The market hall VII was a covered fourteen markets in the network of the Berlin market halls . These were built after a resolution passed by the Berlin magistrate in 1881 to replace the open markets that were considered unsanitary.

Hall VII was built according to plans by the architect and city building officer Hermann Blankenstein and opened on May 23, 1888. The building stretched north of Berlin-Kreuzberg Oranienplatz between Dresdener Straße 27, Luisenufer 15/16 (today Legiendamm 30/32) and Buckower Straße 15 (today Waldemarstraße). In World War II largely destroyed, exist today only two listed components in the Dresden Road 27 and on Legiendamm 32nd

The facade on Legiendamm / Waldemarstrasse was divided by eight pointed gables with large arched windows underneath.

Dresdener Strasse 27

This part, which has been used as a residential building since 1947, has the historic brick cladding and the round arch style element. The main entrance portal, which no longer exists, was also formed by a round arch that was emphasized by two corner towers. The facade contains the inscription Markthalle VII above the portal and shows a structure through rich ornaments and friezes .

Luisenufer 16, Legiendamm 32

The one-story building on Legiendamm, which is still preserved today and was then directly connected to the market hall, houses the restaurant Zur kleine Markthalle and offers a view of the green space of the former Luisenstadt Canal . The house with its ornate clinker facade was already a restaurant when the hall was built, with living space on the first floor for the landlord and his employees. There was a slaughterhouse in the backyard that belonged to the restaurant. The bar buffet and the 1.50 meter high wooden panel on the walls have been preserved from the original interior. Historical photos on the walls show the entire complex of Markthalle VII. The original address of this building was Louisen-Ufer 5 at the time of construction until 1888, then Luisenufer 16 until 1937, then Kösterdamm 32, and has been Legiendamm 32 since 1947 until today.
