Markus Fürstaller (born October 18, 1975 ) is a former Austrian soccer player and now coach .

Career

As a player

Fürstaller began his career at USC Piesendorf . Between 1993 and 1996 he played for FC Zell am See . For the 1996/97 season he joined the amateurs of SV Austria Salzburg . He made his debut for this in the Regionalliga in August 1996 against SCR Altach .

In August 1998 Fürstaller made his debut for the professionals from Austria Salzburg in the Bundesliga when he was in the starting line-up against SV Ried on matchday six of the 1998/99 season . By the end of the season he made two more Bundesliga appearances.

After he came to a Bundesliga assignment in the first half of the 1999/2000 season, he moved to the second division club SV Braunau in January 2000 . He made his debut for Upper Austria in the second division in March 2000 against WSG Wattens . In a 2-1 win against Wattens in May 2000, he scored his first goal in the second division. For Braunau he completed 55 second division games in the winter break of the 2001/02 season until the end of the game.

In January 2002 Fürstaller joined the regional league team PSV SW Salzburg . After half a year at PSV, he moved to league rivals ASVÖ FC Puch for the 2002/03 season . For Puch he completed 26 regional league games that season. In summer 2003 he joined the fifth-class Upper Austrian club 1. FC Vöcklabruck . With Vöcklabruck he rose to the Upper Austrian League in 2004 . After only one season in the fourth highest division, they also rose to the regional league in 2005. Fürstaller made 22 appearances in the Upper Austrian League in the 2004/05 promotion season.

After four years at Vöcklabruck, he moved to the fourth-class Union Vöcklamarkt in the summer of 2007 . With Vöcklamarkt he rose in 2010 to the regional league. In his three years with the club, he played 75 league games and scored twelve goals. After the promotion, Fürstaller moved to the fourth-class FC Pinzgau Saalfelden . With Saalfelden he became champion of the Salzburg league in 2011 and thus rose to the regional league, in which they played until relegation in 2013. After relegation, he ended his career, but took a few times as a substitute player on the bench as an assistant coach or coach of the Pinzgauer.

As a trainer

After the end of his career, Fürstaller first became assistant coach of FC Pinzgau Saalfelden , with whom he was promoted to the regional league in 2014 as a player . After promotion he became head coach of the Pinzgauer for the 2014/15 season. After four seasons as coach of Saalfelden, he resigned after the 2017/18 season.
