The women's football department of the sports club Sporting Braga (officially: Sporting Clube de Braga ) from Portugal was founded in 2016 and has been playing first-class ever since.

history

Braga's football section for women was opened in spring 2016 and was allowed to play in the first division (Primeira Divisão) immediately for the national championship. Together with Sporting Lisbon he took over dominance in national women's football here as well as in the cup competition , but had to admit defeat to the competitor from the capital in the past two seasons. The balance of eight matches so far has been negative for Braga with three draws and five defeats to date. However, thanks to a penalty shoot-out, the game for the 2018 Super Cup was decided for the club on September 9 and the first title win was recorded.

On the penultimate match day of the 2018/19 season, Braga secured their first national championship title early on May 5, 2019 and ended the season as the undefeated champions the following week.
