Sport Clube Freamunde is a football club from the Portuguese municipality of Freamunde in the Paços de Ferreira district . His home games take place at Campo SC Freamunde.

history

The history of the club began when Cardinal Antonio Filipe watched a group of children play football and decided to start a club. Another cleric, Father Castro, directed the sporting affairs of the club founded on March 19, 1933 under the name Freamunde Sport Club . He carried the name until the 1945/46 season. The club played its games on the Campo do Carvalhal, a place that belonged to Castro. In 1990 the club got a new stadium, where it now plays its games. In 2004 a second place was opened and a fan shop for the 75th anniversary.

In 1999, the club reached the second level of performance after becoming champions of the leagues below two times in a row. In 2001, however, the club rose again and only reached the second Portuguese league , the Liga de Honra (honor league), again in the 2007/08 season . Relegation in 2013 was followed by an immediate resurgence in 2014. After the 2016/17 season , they were relegated back to the third division.
