Markus Klug
Markus Klug (born June 9, 1976 in Arad ) is a trainer in German horse racing .
Klug's parents emigrated to Germany shortly after he was born. He grew up in Rastatt near Baden-Baden . After graduating from high school and completing the Bundeswehr, Markus Klug trained as an insurance salesman . Klug has been married since the beginning of 2018.
In 2002, Markus Klug passed the owner trainer exam in Cologne as the best in the course with a grade of 1.5. Since then he has trained racehorses in Iffezheim . In 2009 he successfully completed his training to become a master horse manager in Cologne . Markus Klug has been training on the training facility of the Röttgen stud in Cologne since 2010 . In 2014 he won the German coaching championship for the first time as a trainer and then also in the years 2016 to 2018.
Klug won the German Derby for the first time in 2014 with Sea the Moon . This was followed by victories in 2017 with a gust of wind , with which he ended an almost sixty-year waiting period at the Röttgen stud at the derby, and in the following year with a world star .
In 2017 and 2018 he won the German Racing Champions League as a trainer.
