Markus Raupach (born March 29, 1974 in Bamberg ) is a German publisher, photographer and author.

Life

After Raupach had completed his Abitur at the Kaiser-Heinrich-Gymnasium in Bamberg in 1993 and completed his community service the following year , he studied German and history until 2001, first for teaching, then for master’s degree. During his studies, he founded the media agency GuideMedia, which he and his partner Bastian Böttner still own today. In 2005 he published his first book, “Bamberg's Best Pubs”, which was followed by numerous others. Raupach's works are published either by GuideMedia Verlag, by Fränkischer Tag Buchverlag Bamberg or by Verlag Nürnberger Presse .

In addition to his professional activity as an event photographer for the radio station Antenne Bayern , he also photographed the calendar for the 40th anniversary of the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Orchestra and had several exhibitions, including a. about the trip with a group of schoolchildren to Auschwitz as part of the Train of Remembrance , whose stop in Bamberg he organized. Raupach is the founder of the German Beer Academy .

Awards

In 2015, the Bavarian Brewers' Association and the Hotel and Restaurant Association awarded him the Golden Beer Idea . In 2019 he received this award again, this time together with the city of Forchheim for realizing his idea of ​​the Walk of Beer . Raupach is a member of the jury of numerous international beer competitions, including the European Beer Star Awards , World Beer Awards and Rosglavpivo. In 2017, industry representatives voted Markus Raupach as one of the 50 most important beer personalities in Germany at the TOP 50 awards from Bier, Bars & Brauer magazine . In the same year he was inducted into the British Guild of Beer Writers . Markus Raupach has also been a lecturer at the Genussakademie Bayern since 2018 .
