Markus Schmidt (born January 31, 1985 in Hagenow ) is a former German ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Füchsen from Duisburg .

Career

Markus Schmidt began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth team of Hamburger SV . Then he was drawn to the Eisbären Berlin in the German Junior League , where he was one of the team's best scorers. Later he moved to the professional team of the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League , where he was able to record his first successes. He then joined the Cologne Young Sharks in the summer of 2001 . There he completed 79 league games and scored 126 points scorer. Furthermore, he was nominated several times for the professional squad of the Kölner Haie in the DEL and came to five DEL appearances. At the end of the 2002/03 season he left the young sharks.

In the following two years he was active at SC Bietigheim-Bissingen and REV Bremerhaven in the 2nd Bundesliga. He came back to REV Bremerhaven in 2007 via the Duisburger Füchse , the Hannover Indians and the Hannover Scorpions , for whom he played in the 2nd Bundesliga until 2010. From 2010 to 2013 he played for the Füchse Duisburg in the Oberliga West. In the 2013/14 season he played for the Lausitzer Füchse in DEL 2, but moved back to the Füchsen Duisburg in January 2014.

International

Schmidt played his first tournament for a German national team at the 2004 U18 World Cup . In 2005 and 2006 he took part in the Junior World Championships for his country.
