Markus Uhr (* 1974 in Baar ZG ) is a Swiss artist .

education

From 1990 to 1994 Uhr completed an apprenticeship as a structural draftsman and from 1995 to 1997 an additional apprenticeship as a landscape gardener in Zug, which he completed with a diploma. He then studied design and art at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences from 1998 to 1999 . He then studied photography from 1999 to 2005 at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig. In 2001, she was accepted into the specialist class of Prof. Helfried Strauss . In 2002 he continued his studies for two semesters with Boris Mikhailov , only to be accepted again in 2005 in Strauss's master class, from which he graduated in 2008 with a Master of Arts. Uhr lives and works in Leipzig.

Since the 2012/2013 winter semester, Markus Uhr has been the artistic assistant to Professor Bernhard Prinz at the Kassel Academy of Art .

The pictures and works are mostly grouped and arranged in extensive and often large-scale installations. In addition to painting and installation, his work also includes a complex examination of language and music, which he links with one another using translation methods and aids he created himself. The basis of his work is in particular the handwritten records that have been kept for years.

Since 2004 he has presented his works at numerous solo and group exhibitions.
