Marlene Lenz
Marlene Lenz (born July 4, 1932 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( CDU ).
Lenz, the second of four children of Otto Lenz and his wife Marieliese Lenz geb. Pohl, passed her Abitur in 1950 at St.-Anna-Gymnasium in Munich and studied economics and languages in Heidelberg . She first worked as a certified translator and then worked for several European organizations in Paris , Bonn and Brussels . From 1976 to 1979 she was a research assistant at the German Bundestag . In the CDU she worked as a women's officer, she was a member of the federal executive committee of the women's union , was also chairwoman of the European section for women at the CDU and the CSU and president of the women's section of the EPP . From 1979 to 1999 she was a member of the European Parliament , where she chaired the Committee on Women's Rights and the Subcommittee on Human Rights as well as Vice-Chair of the Committee of Inquiry into the Situation of Women in Europe .
