Marshfield is a city in Webster County in the US state of Missouri . In 2000 Marshfield, which is also the county seat , had 5720 residents.

Marshfield is located in southern Missouri. According to the United States Census Bureau , the total area is 12.5 km² of land.
history
Marshfield was settled as early as 1830. However, the city was not founded until 1856. Marshfield initially grew very slowly. That only changed when the place was connected to the railway network in 1870.
Demographics
According to the 2000 census , 5,720 people lived in 2,256 households and 1,534 families in the city. The population density was 456.3 inhabitants per km². There were 2417 housing units at an average density of 192.8 housing units per km². Of the people living in Marshfield, 97.8% were White, 0.19% African American, 0.42% Native American and Alaskan, 0.30% Asian, 0.12% non-ethnic, and 1.17% with two ors more lineages. Hispanics and Latinos of all origins made up 1.75% of the population.
27.1% of Marshfields residents were under 18 years old, 9.4% between 18 and 24, 27.2% between 25 and 44, 18.2% between 45 and 64, and 18.1% 65 and over. The median age was 35.1 years (Missouri: 36.1; USA: 35.3 years).
