After the audition was canceled, Benítez fell into depression and ended his career prematurely. His family eventually brought him back to football and he moved to the youth department of CA Independiente . In October 2011 he moved up to the first team of the Rojos coached by Ramón Díaz . Benítez made his debut on November 19, 2011 (15th matchday of Apertura) with the professionals when he came on for Leonel Nuñez in the 3-0 home win over Olimpo de Bahía Blanca in the closing stages . He scored his first goal on December 4th (19th matchday of Apertura) in a 1-1 draw against Newell's Old Boys . In his first season 2011/12, he completed ten league games in which he was able to score a goal. In the next season 2012/13 he played 10 league games, but had to relegate to the second-rate Primera B Nacional for the first time in the club's history with the traditional club . The club succeeded in the immediate rise in the 2013/14 season and Benítez was used again in ten games.
In the half a year long transition season when changing to the annual season, Benítez was used in eight league games. His final breakthrough came in the 2015 game year, when he first established himself in the starting lineup. On July 12, 2015 (16th matchday) he scored a brace in a 3-1 home win against Olimpo de Bahía Blanca. In this season he collected 12 goals (seven goals and five assists) in 26 league appearances. In the 2015 game year, which only lasted from February to May 2015 due to the change to the European system, Benítez scored two goals in 14 league games and prepared another goal. In the 2016/17 season, the winger only scored one goal and three assists in 26 league appearances. In December 2017 he won the Copa Sudamericana with Independiente . In this 2017/18 season he scored six goals in 20 league games and assisted in two more goals. The offensive man ended the 2018/19 season with three goals and a template, which he was able to collect in 19 league games. In the 2019/20 season, Benítez slipped further and further from the starting line-up and made only 12 league games by mid-February 2020 in which he remained without a single goal participation.
On February 27, 2020, Benítez moved to the Brazilian first division club CR Vasco da Gama on loan for the entire 2020 season . Its debut was delayed by several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
