Martha Kanow

Martha Kanow (born May 11, 1907 in Dallmin , Westprignitz district , † after 1967) was a German farm worker and an official of the DFD . She was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament and the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

The daughter of a farm laborer attended primary school in Kribbe (Westprignitz district) and Neuwerder ( Westhavelland district ). From 1929 to 1945 she worked as a farm worker.

After the Second World War she became a new farmer in Mildenberg and became politically active. In 1946 she joined the Democratic Women's Federation of Germany (DFD) and was a community representative in Mildenberg from 1946 to 1958. In 1947 she joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and in 1950 the Association of Mutual Farmers Aid (VdgB).

Kanow was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament in the second electoral period from November 3, 1950 to July 25, 1952. From 1952 to 1958 she was chairwoman of the DFD local group Mildenberg and from 1952 to 1954 a member of the Potsdam district assembly . From 1952 Kanow was a member of the Agricultural Production Cooperative (LPG) "Bergauf" in Mildenberg and headed the SED's Works Party Organization (BPO). From 1953 she was mayor of the community Mildenberg and member of the Gransee district board of the VdgB.

From 1954 to 1967 she was a member of the People's Chamber , first as a member of the VdgB parliamentary group, then from 1963 to 1967 as a member of the DFD parliamentary group. From 1954 to 1958 she was a member of the Committee for Agriculture and Forestry, from 1957 to 1958 of the Standing Committee for the Local People's Representations, from 1958 to 1960 Deputy Chairwoman of the Grace Committee and from 1963 to 1967 a member of the Constitutional and Legal Committee of the People's Chamber. From 1957 she was also a member of the Potsdam district board of the DFD.
