Martin Štěpánek (born January 11, 1947 in Prague ; † September 16, 2010 there ) was a Czech actor , director and politician .

Life

The son of the Czech actor Zdeněk Štěpánek graduated from high school in 1965 and graduated from DAMU in 1969. In the 1970s he was a member of the Prague National Theater ensemble for four years , after which he worked at the Prague Theater Činoherní klub (Drama Club ). Between 1981 and 1994 he emigrated to Austria and Germany. From September 2006 to January 2007 he was the Czech Minister of Culture in the first government of Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek . The cancer patient Štěpánek died by suicide .
