Zdeněk Štěpánek (born September 22, 1896 in Tvoršovice near Benešov , Austria-Hungary ; died June 20, 1968 in Prague ) was a Czech actor , playwright , director and screenwriter . Štěpánek was a member of the Prague National Theater and played both on stage and in film.

Life

Zdeněk Štěpánek was a grandson of the director and playwright Jan Nepomuk Štěpánek . He graduated from vocational school shortly before the First World War and then played on various touring stages. In 1915 he volunteered for war. He was captured by Russia on the Eastern Front and did not return until 1920.

He was the father of the actress Jana Štěpánková , the actors Martin Štěpánek and Petr Štěpánek and the theater director Kristina Taberyová .
