Martin Bell (born December 6, 1964 in Akrotiri , Cyprus ) is a retired British ski racer . Like his younger brother Graham Bell , he was a downhill specialist .

Bell was born on the Royal Air Force base in Akrotiri. Between 1984 and 1994 he took part in the Winter Olympics four times. In 1988 he was eighth in the Olympic Downhill from Nakiska near Calgary . This is the best placing that a British ski racer has ever achieved at the Winter Games.

Bell also competed five times in World Ski Championships between 1985 and 1993 . He achieved his best result in 1993 in Morioka with a 29th place. In the Ski World Cup he was in the top ten seven times; his best result is a fifth place on February 22, 1986 in the downhill from Åre . After the 1994/95 season, Bell ended his career as a competitive athlete. He lives in the United States today .
