Martin Breinesberger

Martin Breinesberger (born October 12, 1827 in Niederneukirchen ; † December 3, 1890 in St. Florian near Linz ) was an Upper Austrian master builder who was involved in the construction of square courtyards and sacred buildings .

Life

Breinesberger was born as the son of the bricklayer and resident Mathias Breinesberger and his wife Anna Maria geb. Wol (f) stermayr was born in Niederneukirchen. He married the tailor's daughter Josepha Glück from Hausleiten near St. Florian . They had 11 children.

Martin Breinesberger completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer and worked as a journeyman and foreman for Friedrich Schiller (1848) and Schlagbauer in Ebelsberg . In 1855 he became a master craftsman and went into business the following year. After the basic subservience in the Habsburg hereditary lands had been lifted in 1848 and building activity increased, he rose to be a sought-after master builder, especially in the Enns area .

Significant works include the tower of the Filialkirche Oberthalheim (St. Anna) after Brand in 1868 , the expansion of the Ebelsberg parish school (1873), as well as numerous square courtyards in and around St. Florian, including the supposedly largest of its kind, the "Zehetner" zu Gemering ", with its 365 windows, 52 doors, 12 gates and 7 chimneys also called" Jahreszeitenhof ".

Martin Breinesberger died on December 3, 1890 in St. Florian House, Markt 31 (Obermayr- or Baumeisterhaus) of " dropsy ". The obituary of December 14, 1890, printed in the Linzer Tages-Post , honors him as a member of numerous associations in and around St. Florian and especially as a "Zehnerjäger", that is, as a member of the 10th Jäger Battalion, which took part in the battle of Santa Lucia had won a major victory in the First Italian War of Independence .

Son Franz Breinesberger also practiced the building trade and created many private buildings in addition to sacred ones, including in Linz.
