Martin Egg (born June 18, 1915 in Krumbach ; † September 18, 2007 there ) was a Swabian homeland poet .

Life

Martin Egg was born to Franziska and Gabriel Egg. When he was five years old, his parents moved him and his two sisters to Nonnenhorn , a community near Lindau . He started school there in 1921.

In 1923 the family returned to Krumbach where Martin Egg after school, first a merchant profession learned. After successfully completing his degree and spending a year as a journeyman, he completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Sparkasse Krumbach from 1933 to 1935 . He practiced this profession until his retirement.

In 1945 Martin Egg married his wife Anneliese in Krumbach, the couple had a son and a daughter. From 1955 to 1958 the family lived in Murnau am Staffelsee , where he worked as a loan officer at the Sparkasse. In 1958 he became branch manager of the Sparkasse Memmingen in Ottobeuren .

After retiring in 1976, he stayed in Ottobeuren until shortly before his death. Most of his works were created during this time, with his first play having premiered in Krumbach in 1947. He has received several awards and author awards. In 1986 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .

Martin Egg died on September 18, 2007 in Krumbach. He was buried in the Hürben cemetery in Krumbach.

Works

Egg was the author of humorous, thoughtful and multi-award-winning poems, stories, plays and radio plays in Swabian dialect and also in High German.

His three-act play So a Glückstag was performed over 600 times by 80 theater associations.

Ten books were published between 1981 and 2000
