Martin Erich Philipp

Martin Erich Philipp (born August 4, 1887 in Zwickau , † November 1, 1978 in Dresden ), also known by his initials MEPH, was a German painter and graphic artist.

From 1904 to 1908 Philipp attended the arts and crafts school in Dresden and then studied at the Dresden academy of arts until 1913 . His professors included Oskar Zwintscher , Gotthardt Kuehl , Richard Müller and Osmar Schindler .

From 1913 he worked as a freelancer and was represented at numerous graphic exhibitions until 1933 and after 1945. His work mainly includes animal motifs, but also illustrations of contemporary literary works and erotic images.

Philipp lived with his wife in Dölzschen on Wurgwitzer Strasse. He died in 1978 and was buried in the Dölzschen cemetery.
