Martin Grab (born June 8, 1979 in Schwyz ) is a former Swiss wrestler .

Career

Grab was the winner of the wrestling festival on the occasion of Expo.02 and the Unspunnenfest 2006. At the annual wrestling festivals, he won the Brünigschwinget 2001, 2002, 2007, 2008 and 2010, the Central Switzerland 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006, and the Bern Cantonal 2005 , on Southwestern Switzerland in 2002, on Northwestern Switzerland in 2006 as well as at a number of smaller festivals.

At the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in 2001 in Nyon he came second, in 2004 in Lucerne he was fifth, and in 2007 in Aarau he was fourth. In 2016, he secured the seventh Swiss wreath in a row in Estavayer .

With 33 wreath victories, 61 victories at wrestling festivals and 125 wreaths won, including seven federal wreaths, Martin Grab is one of the most successful wrestlers in Switzerland.

Grab is President of the Einsiedeln Wrestling Club. He is 1.94 m tall, weighs 120 kg (competition weight) and is known as a specialist in "Wyber hooks".

Doping offense

In April 2018, the banned substance tamoxifen was found in the 39-year-old during a doping control and confirmed in the B-sample. Tamoxifen is used to prevent and treat breast cancer in women and can be abused to reduce the side effects of anabolic steroids . Grab, who denies voluntary doping, was retrospectively banned from April 5, 2019 for two years by the Swiss Olympic disciplinary body . Grab announced his resignation at the beginning of May 2018, before the doping offense became known.

Shortly after submitting the doping sample in April 2018, Grab won the Zug cantonal, two weeks later he won his 125th wreath at the Schwyz cantonal. The results of the two cantons were withdrawn for doping offenses.

Private

Grab lives in Rothenthurm SZ . He works as a plumber , is married and has five children. He runs a farm with his wife.
