Martin Graf is the son of Marc Graf, member of the board of directors of Georg Fischer AG , and Margareth Graf (née Smith, of Australian origin). He also acted as president of the urban development commission and the cultural forum. On April 3, 2011, Martin Graf was elected to the Government Council of the Canton of Zurich . He displaced Hans Hollenstein , who achieved the absolute majority, but was eliminated as the surplus.

On April 12, 2015, Graf was voted out of office as a surplus member of the government council of the Canton of Zurich, according to him, in addition to the poor performance of the Greens, this was primarily due to the "Carlos" case .
