Martin Hamann (born December 2, 1978 in Kaufbeuren ) is a German ice hockey player who has played as a defender for the Herner EV 2007 from the Oberliga since December 2008 .

Career

Martin Hamann began his career with the youngsters at ESV Kaufbeuren , for whom he stepped on the ice for the first time as a professional in the 1998/99 season . A year later Hamann was able to celebrate promotion to the league with the ESVK. In the 2001/02 season the ESVK even managed to get promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga , Hamann played a major role in this with seven goals, eight assists and his presence in front of his own goal.

After another year for the Buron Joker , Hamann moved to EV Duisburg in 2003 . In the 2004/05 season he did not play a single game for the Füchse because he was injured. The Füchse rose to the German ice hockey league and his contract was extended despite the injury. As a result, Hamann was able to gain experience in Germany's top division and moved back to his home club after the season, where he was one of the top performers in defense, but could not prevent the Joker from being relegated. After the season he moved to the other relegated 2nd Bundesliga 2006/07 , the Dresdner Eislöwen .

Jan Tabor, manager of the Eislöwen, said of the newcomer: “Martin Hamann prevailed in Duisburg in the 2nd division and was able to gain experience in the DEL there. Last season he was one of the best defenders in Kaufbeuren and with his tough, uncompromising manner he will take on the part of tidying up in front of the goal and keeping things calm ”. Due to an injury Hamann came in Dresden in the 2007/08 season only on 31 appearances in the league, so that his contract was not extended. In the summer of 2008 he completed the season preparation with the Memminger Indians, with whom he received a contract in October 2008. Two months later he left the club and joined the Herner EV , where he played in the major league. After the 2008/09 season, Martin Hamann ended his active ice hockey career and began training as a physiotherapist.

Hamann has been employed as a physiotherapist at ESV Kaufbeuren since 2014.
