Martin Heling

Hans Martin Heling (born October 24, 1889 in Koseeger , Colberg-Cörlin district ; † May 21, 1980 in Hanover ) was the country stable master .

Life

After attending school in Lauenburg , Martin Heling studied agriculture at the University of Halle and the University of Munich . In 1913 he made artillery training in Allenstein , where the command of the 37th Division (German Empire) was, and then took part in the First World War. In 1920 he received his doctorate from the University of Halle. In 1921 he became an assistant at the Brandenburg Main and State Stud Neustadt / Dosse . In 1923 he became director of the Braunsberg state stud , which he had provisionally headed the year before, where he also became state stable master in 1927 and was responsible for managing it from 1930 to 1933. From 1934 to 1937 he was head of the Rastenburg state stud and from 1938 until his escape from East Prussia he was head of the state stud in Georgenburg . Not least thanks to his fearless demeanor towards the district leaders of the NSDAP and the authorities, Heling was able to save a large number of the horses entrusted to him and bring them to the West. In 1945 he headed the Lower Saxony State Stud Celle for a few months . After brief stops in Bad Harzburg and Hamburg , he came to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forests in Hanover, where he became a consultant for animal breeding. In 1950 he was appointed government director and Oberlandstallmeister there. He supported the work of Ernst Ehlert in Hunnesrück before he retired in 1954. The Trakehner Association awarded him the golden badge of honor.

Martin Heling married Anna Gramsch in 1923. They had two children.
