Ernst Ehlert

Ernst Ludwig Karl Ehlert (born July 16, 1875 in Wernersdorf ; † September 21, 1957 in Hunnesrück ) was the state stable master at the Trakehnen main stud .

From 1886 to 1889 he attended high school in Marienburg . Until 1896 he then attended the Realgymnasium in Elbing , where he graduated from high school. In 1896 he came to the Old Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 14 (1806) in Graudenz , where he was appointed lieutenant in 1897. After falling from his horse, he retired from military service in 1903. In 1904 he began studying agriculture, economics and natural sciences at the Royal Albertus University in Königsberg , which he completed in 1907 as Dr. phil. completed. He then began his hippological career as managing director of the horse breeding department of the West Prussian Chamber of Agriculture. In 1920 he became the stud director and head of the Rastenburg state stud. In 1921 he headed the Danzig Landstallamt from January to August and was then head of the Labes State Stud until 1930 . In 1930 he took over the management of the Braunsberg State Stud for a few months . When Siegfried Graf Lehndorff left the Trakehnen main stud in 1931 , Ehlert traded with him and thus became head of the Trakehnen main stud until he fled East Prussia in 1944. In 1946/47, with the support of the Trakehner Association and the State of Lower Saxony , he took over the keeping and breeding of in Hunnesrück Trakehnern until 1957.

Ehlert married Elisabeth Therese Amalie Boelcke in 1903. They had 3 offspring.
