Martin Hilb

Martin Hilb (born May 26, 1948 ) is a Swiss business economist. He is a professor emeritus for business administration with a special focus on human resource management at the University of St. Gallen .

Live and act

Martin Hilb taught from 1985 to 2000 at the University of Dallas (Texas), the Singapore Management University and at the EIASM in Brussels.

Before his scientific career, he worked for Nestlé in Vevey, Martin & Co in Berlin and Schering-Plow in Kenilworth (New Jersey), most recently as Director of Essex Chemistry. He has worldwide consulting experience in the field of board and personnel management.

In 2010 Hilb was awarded a gold medal in corporate governance "... for exceptional contributions to the principles and practice of quality in governance" at the World Conference on Quality in St. Louis (Missouri) by the International Academy of Quality been. After Ira Millstein , the leading US governance expert from the Yale School of Management in New York, Hilb is only the second scientist to receive this international award.

Hilb is particularly known for his sustainable management model, which he describes in detail in his standard work on "New Corporate Governance", which is published in seven languages. He is a supporter of a holistic and sustainable model of management and supervision of companies. This innovative approach was released in abbreviated form in January 2010 by the World Bank's Global Governance Forum in Washington, DC .

He is currently managing director of the Institute for Leadership and Personnel Management (I.FPM) at the University of St. Gallen. He is a member of the board of directors and president of the Swiss Institute of Directors (SIOD), an association that aims to promote the targeted exchange of knowledge and experience among active board members of companies and organizations in Switzerland.
