Martin Hornberger

Martin Hornberger (born November 11, 1961 in Kassel ) is a German sports official .

career

Hornberger went to school together with his twin brother Mathias at the Reismann-Gymnasium in Paderborn and passed his Abitur there . Hornberger practiced athletics , after graduating from school he completed a degree at the German Sport University in Cologne , which he completed as a certified sports teacher (focus: sports administration).

He worked professionally for VBC 69 Paderborn, was in office from 1985 to 1991 (in the 2nd Bundesliga) and in the 1994/95 season (in the basketball Bundesliga ) as manager of the Paderborn basketball team, which was playing under different names. He worked for the sports department of the city of Paderborn and the radio station Radio Hochstift .

Hornberger was managing director of AG 2. Basketball-Bundesliga between 1989 and 1992 , then a board member, where he chaired the board from 2003 to 2011. From 2000 to 2002 Hornberger was Vice President "Bundesliga" in the management of the German Basketball Federation . On the occasion of his departure from the AG 2. Basketball-Bundesliga he was elected first honorary chairman of the working group in 2011.

In 2002 he became honorary vice-president of SC Paderborn 07 and on October 1, 2005 he took over the office of chief executive officer of SC Paderborn 07 . From 2005 to 2009 he was also the managing director of Paderborner Stadion Gesellschaft mbH. The Paderborn football arena (various names: paragon arena, then energy team arena, today Benteler arena ) was also built during this time . In 2012 Hornberger received the Golden Badge of Honor from the German Basketball Federation. In 2014 he was honored by the city of Paderborn for his "special merits in sport".
