Martin Just

Martin Just (born April 17, 1930 in Uslar ) is a retired German musicologist and university professor.

Martin Just received his musical training at the State University for Music in Stuttgart . He completed his musicology, English and Romance studies in Tübingen . After receiving his doctorate in 1960, he worked, initially as an assistant, at the University of Würzburg . The habilitation took place in 1972, in 1973 he was appointed university lecturer and in 1978 professor. Just has been retired since 1995.

The focus of his academic work lies in the music of the 15th and 16th centuries, in the areas of classical and romanticism, and in questions of musical analysis . From 1981 to 1986 Just was editor of the magazine Die Musikforschung . Since 1982 he has been a member of the editorial board of the New Josquin Edition .
