Martin Lambeck (2007)

Martin Lambeck (born May 18, 1934 in Berlin ; † February 4, 2020 ) was a German physicist . He taught at the TU Berlin and was retired in 1997.

Study and teaching

Lambeck studied industrial engineering and physics in Berlin and became a graduate engineer in physics in 1959. He received his doctorate in 1969 as a Dr.-Ing. and completed his habilitation in physics on the subject of the Barkhausen effect and after-effects in ferromagnetics .

From 1970 to 1997 he was a professor in the physics department at the TU Berlin.

He worked in the fields of magnetism , optics , materials testing and physics didactics . In addition, he examined the border areas between physics and medicine , homeopathy and radiesthesia and dealt with the radon problem. In other works he tried to classify physics in the social environment. Lambeck was a member of the Science Council of the Society for the Scientific Investigation of Parasciences and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Protestant journal "Berliner Dialog - Information and standpoints on religious encounters".

Publicity

Lambeck became known to a broader public for his work on interpretations and misinterpretations of physics in philosophy, in the media and in society. He saw science and politics in particular challenged by alternative medicine and esotericism . He made himself available as a test subject to u. a. to demonstrate the methods of kinesiology .

Martin Lambeck positioned himself against topics such as parapsychology and homeopathy. He occasionally appeared on television as an expert, for example on ZDF or WDR . In 2017 he gave a lecture at the Skepkon in Berlin on the subject of "The problem of free will and the physical 'justification' of parasciences".
