Martin Maischberger

Martin Maischberger (* 1964 in Munich ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Martin Maischberger grew up in Grottaferrata and Garching near Munich . He studied Classical Archeology, Ancient History and Italian Philology at the University of Perugia and the Free University of Berlin as well as in Rome; at the Free University of Berlin he obtained his master's degree in 1992. In 1995 he started at the Free University of Berlin with the work Marble in Rome. Delivery, storage and workplaces in the imperial era . He then worked from 1995 to 2000 in the headquarters of the German Archaeological Institute in Berlin, where he was responsible for the archive. He then became curator of the Berlin Collection of Antiquities . In 2002 Maischberger was the curator of the exhibition The Greek Classic. Idea or reality involved. Since September 1, 2007, Maischberger has been the successor of Gertrud Platz, initially acting, then also regularly deputy director of the Antikensammlung. Maischberger is a member of the board of the Friends of Antiquity on Museum Island Berlin , is a member of the Interdisciplinary Center “Old World” at the Free University of Berlin, is a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute and is on the advisory board of the Martin von Wagner Museum . The television journalist Sandra Maischberger is his sister.
