Martin Näbauer (geodesist)

Martin Näbauer (born October 14, 1879 in Blaufeld near Wasserburg am Inn , † October 26, 1950 in Munich ) was a German geodesist and university professor at the TH Munich .

Life

Martin Näbauer studied geodesy from 1898 to 1900 at the Technical University of Munich , then practical surveying work in Mitterfels ; In 1902 he passed the state examination for the Bavarian surveying service. From 1903 he was assistant to Max Carl Ludwig Schmidt , passed the newly introduced diploma examination in 1906, received his doctorate in 1907 and qualified as a professor in 1908. He then taught at the TH Braunschweig (1910) and the TH Karlsruhe (1917), before joining from 1926 to 1949 when full professor came to Munich.

Näbauer's main areas of work were the adjustment calculation as well as the error calculation , the terrestrial and astronomical ray refraction . He was a member of the scientific commission for the Prussian land survey and the advisory board for surveying, since 1931 a member of the Bavarian Commission for International Geometric Surveying, from 1943 a full member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and finally in 1949 elected founding chairman of the German Geodetic Commission (DGK).

The geodesist Martha Näbauer was his daughter.
