Martin Oldiges

Martin Oldiges (born November 30, 1940 in Tilsit ; † February 6, 2016 in Leipzig ) was a German administrative lawyer, judge and university lecturer for public law.

Life

Oldiges studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg and at the Free University of Berlin . He became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Berlin (1961) and the Corps Borussia Breslau (awarded the band in 1973). In 1969 he was at the University of Cologne to Dr. iur. utr. PhD . In 1978 the habilitation followed . In 1980, Bielefeld University appointed him to its chair for law. From 1982 to 1993 he was a part-time judge at the Higher Administrative Court for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in Münster. In 1993 he accepted the professorship for public law , in particular constitutional and administrative law , from the University of Leipzig . The following year he founded the Institute for Environmental and Planning Law in Leipzig and was its managing director until 2006; he was still a member of the institute's board of directors. In addition to environmental law, his areas of research were building and police law, commercial administrative law and constitutional law. He retired on March 31, 2006 . From May 2005 to November 2010, Oldiges was a full member of the Saxon Constitutional Court .

In the Leipzig Pauline Association, Oldiges was committed to the redesign of the university building on Augustusplatz and a memorial for the blown up Pauline Church . From 2009 he was chairman of the “Universitätskirche St. Pauli zu Leipzig” foundation, which financially supports the academic, ecclesiastical and musical use of the future auditorium / university church at Leipzig University. His grave is in the Südfriedhof (Leipzig) .
