Martin Pfurtscheller (born March 7, 1968 in Hall in Tirol ) is a former Austrian biathlete .

Martin Pfurtscheller started as an active person for the Neustift Ski Club . The former sports soldier living in Neustift began biathlon in 1986. From the 1992/93 season to 1996 he was active in the biathlon world cup . In his first race, an individual in Pokljuka , he immediately won World Cup points as 22nd. Early in the 1993/94 season he reached 16th place in an individual in Pokljuka, the best individual result of his World Cup career. The first international championship and at the same time the highlight of his career was participation in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , where Pfurtscheller was used in all three races. In the sprint he was 43rd, in the individual 57th and with Alfred Eder , Ludwig Gredler and Franz Schuler as the final runner of the relay Austria's ninth. The last use at a major event was the sprint at the 1996 World Championships in Ruhpolding , where Pfurtscheller was 76th.

At the national level, Pfurtscheller was primarily successful with the Tyrolean relay at the national championships . In 1992 he won bronze, his only title in 1994 with Anton Lengauer-Stockner and Hannes Obererlacher . In 1995 , 1997 and 1998 he was runner-up. After his active career he remained connected to the biathlon sport and has been employed as a ski technician at the competence center of the Austrian Ski Association in Bramberg am Wildkogel since the end of the 2000s .
