Martin Schippert
Martin "Tino" Schippert (* 1. May 1946 , † 11. September 1981 in Tutilimundi / Bolivia ) was a famous scene figure of the Swiss yobs , motorcycle rocker , a so-called " 68ers " and is considered the founder of the first Hells Angels - Charters on mainland Europe.
Schippert served the writer Friedrich Dürrenmatt as a source of inspiration. The two were brought into contact by the theoretician of the Swiss “underground”, Sergius Golowin .
Youth and youngsters scene
Martin "Tino" Schippert grew up on the Zürichberg . He suffered from asthma and had problems at school due to his dyslexia . He completed his training as a Rhine seaman with "satisfactory".
Schippert founded a gang of thugs, the "Avengers Basel", which did not last long. He joined the Zurich “Avengers” (later “Revengers” or “Lone Stars”), whose leader he later became. In 1965 Schippert suffered a serious motorcycle accident. Because of various offenses, Schippert came into conflict with the law. After four months of pre- trial detention , he was sentenced to 1½ years in prison by the Zurich Higher Court . In early 1968 he was again at large.
Pastor Sieber quartered the Lone Stars on the upper floor of his bunker. Schippert was elected to an “action committee” for a youth center by a general assembly of the restless youngsters of 1968.
Foundation of the Hells Angels
The Lone Stars wanted to become real "Hells Angels". The group adopted the double name "Hells Angels - Lone-Stars" on their own initiative. A senior member of the Oakland Hells Angels, who heard about it, drew attention to the " trademark infringement ". The Swiss now sent a delegation to the USA to complete a probationary period as a candidate , to pass exams and initiations. They were recognized at Christmas 1970.
Schippert was a well-known figure in the city during the 1968 movement. He had friends in the underground scene like Urban Gwerder and Sergius Golowin , was on friendly terms with the Swiss writer Friedrich Dürrenmatt , gave lectures on the underground, appeared in television programs and in films, was elected to the action committee for an autonomous youth center and sometimes brought in as a mediator when there was a quarrel between milieu gangs.
Flight and Exile
Because the Hells Angels were targeted by the public prosecutor for rape , Schippert first flew to the Middle East, where he was arrested and deported to Switzerland, whereupon he again used an opportunity to flee and escaped again to Lebanon . There he tried his hand at making hashish, had contact with Palestinian resistance and left the country after difficulties. Some time later he found himself in Brazil and Bolivia , where he finally wanted to settle as Carlos Martin Schippert. This was followed by drug experiments, a plan to set up a small tourism company, and an argument with a local police chief that brought Schippert to the notorious La Paz prison , from which he was able to escape.
He had broken with the Hells Angels during this time. He died shortly after escaping from prison in 1981 in Bolivia. There are different details about the circumstances that led to his death, including the date and place of death. In Adrian Winkler's film "Frozen Angel", witnesses mention the place Tutilimundi in Bolivia, where he allegedly died "under a mango tree" where he was resting. When they tried to wake him up, they found that he had died.
