Martin Schulz (Pharmacist)
Martin Schulz (born December 14, 1959 in Hamburg ) is a German pharmacist , pharmacologist and honorary professor in Berlin . He is chairman of the drug commission of the German pharmacists (AMK), managing director drugs of the ABDA - Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Apothekerverband e. V., the Federal Chamber of Pharmacists (BAK) and the German Pharmacists Association e. V. (DAV) and managing director of pharmacy at the German Pharmaceutical Testing Institute e. V. (DAPI).
Life
After graduating from high school in St. Georg in Hamburg , Schulz studied pharmacy from 1978 to 1982 ( license to practice medicine 1983) and from 1984 to 1986 medicine at the University of Hamburg . In 1988 he was awarded a doctorate with a thesis on the interactions of histamine H 2 receptor antagonists. rer. nat. PhD.
From 1988 to 2008 he was head of the Center for Drug Information and Pharmaceutical Practice (ZAPP) of the ABDA - Federal Association of German Pharmacists' Associations . He completed further training as a specialist pharmacologist DGPT ( German Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology , 1989) and as a specialist pharmacist for drug information (Landesapothekerkammer Hessen, 1993).
Since March 1, 2002, he has been the managing director of pharmacy at the German Pharmaceutical Testing Institute. V. (DAPI) and since April 1, 2008 Managing Director Medicines of the ABDA - Federal Association of German Pharmacists' Associations e. V., the Federal Chamber of Pharmacists (BAK) and the German Pharmacists Association e. V. (DAV). From 1992 to 2008 he was deputy and has been chairman of the Drugs Commission of German Pharmacists (AMK) since 2009.
From 2001 to 2005 he held a teaching position for clinical pharmacy at the Goethe University Frankfurt , where he was appointed honorary professor in July 2005. From 2015 to 2019 he took a lectureship in clinical pharmacy at the Institute for Pharmacy at the Free University of Berlin and was appointed honorary professor there in April 2019 .
His research areas include drug adherence, drug therapy safety (AMTS) and pharmacoepidemiology .

- Board member of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE, 1999 to 2005); Chairman from 1999 to 2001
- Board member of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP), 2006 to 2012
- Member of the coordination group for action plans of the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) to improve drug therapy safety (AMTS) in Germany (since 2008)
- Member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG, since 2008)
- Voting member of the Expert Committee for Prescription Requirements of the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM, since 2009)
