Martin Thau (* 1954 in Essen ) is a German scriptwriter and head of studies at the script workshop in Munich . He is the son of the actress Brigitte Lebaan and the older brother of the film producer and screenplay editor Oliver Thau.

Life

education

Martin Thau graduated from high school in 1973 at the Jesuit Mauritius grammar school in Büren - alternative service with Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste as community organizer in Montreal and Los Angeles - studies of modern German literature and philosophy in Würzburg and Munich - feature film directing at the University of Television and Film .

Martin Thau developed the thriller script Mute Witness with Anthony Waller .

He was the seminar translator Robert McKees during his Germany tours. In 1989 the University of Television and Film appointed him director of studies for its new scenario program .

He also advised books for film projects of the party-related foundations and accompanied the realization of the first, now classic Kenyan 90-minute feature film Saikati by Anne Mungai.

This was followed by practice-oriented script workshops at the Goethe Institutes in Africa and Asia and at the Munich Film Workshop .

In 1996 he designed the EU media program Sagas - Writing Interactive Fiction . and accompanies its initial phase

During the study

Martin Thau wrote and translated numerous genre novels and short crime novels. His HFF practice film Trial by Fire was shown at the Fantasy Film Festival in Brussels - the final film Die Spielverderber in the “Film noir” series of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk .

Until the end of the 1980s, Martin wrote TV scenarios for the evening program of the ARD ( guest performance director Gold, Forest Inspector Buchholz ) and the family program of the ZDF - from 2008 he was the scriptwriter of Urban Explorer and The Captain of Nakara
