Les Muscutt

Leslie "Les" Muscutt (born June 30, 1941 in Barrow-in-Furness , England ; † August 9, 2013 ) was an American jazz musician ( banjo , guitar ).

Les Muscutt moved to London, where he worked in the music scene on Lisle Street in Soho a. a. played at Dobell's Record Shop with Nat Gonella , as well as with Acker Bilk , Cy Laurie , Terry Pitt , the Clyde Valley Stompers , Clinton Ford, Charlie Gall's Jazz Band and Bruce Turner . In 1966 he left his home country and after a short stay in New York City moved to New Orleans in 1968 , where he has lived ever since. He played in the local jazz scene a. a. with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and had a longer engagement in the Palm Court Jazz Café . The first recordings were made in 1963 with Pud Brown and Tom Ebbert ( Jimmy Ille New Orleans Ragtime Band ). A bypass operation temporarily ended his career in 2001. In the field of jazz he was involved in 48 recording sessions between 1963 and 1998. a. with Raymond Burke , Ernie Carson , Doc Cheatham , Kid Sheik Cola , Louis Cottrell , Lionel Ferbos , Jacques Gauthé , Willie Humphrey , Jeanette Kimball , Sammy Rimington and Michael White .
