biography
After finishing school, Vogler lived temporarily in Vevey and Lausanne . He learned the trade of a farmer in Hofwil near Münchenbuchsee . When his father died, he took over his family's farm at the age of 19. He also took over the “zum Roten Löwen” inn from his father and also worked as an innkeeper. In 1865 he founded a small factory to manufacture brushes . From 1859 to 1866 and again from 1877 he served as mayor of Oberrohrdorf. From 1860 to 1862 and 1864 to 1872 he was a member of the Aargau Grand Council . In 1884/85 he was a member of the constitutional council, from 1888 to 1892 he was a national councilor . Vogler was instrumental in founding the agricultural winter school in Brugg , which began operations in 1883. In addition, he presided over the Aargau Agricultural Society from 1883 to 1891.
In 1897 the Oberrohrdorf community assembly decided to abolish the separation of the village school into a lower and upper level and to reintroduce a more cost-effective but qualitatively poorer comprehensive school. Vogler was so disappointed with this decision that he immediately resigned as mayor and moved to Baden , where he spent the last years of his life. He had already sold the brush factory he had founded in 1883. In its heyday it had 16 employees, but had to stop production in 1918 because wages were no longer competitive compared to the metal industry.
