Martin Wagner (born September 16, 1986 in Regensburg ) is a German soccer player who is under contract with Hannover 96 .

Career

Wagner initially played in the youth division for FC Teugn and FC Bayern Munich , before moving to the youth team of 1. FC Nürnberg in 2003. In July 2005 he moved to Hessen Kassel in the Oberliga Hessen , where he made his first appearances in adult football. At the end of the season he rose to the Regionalliga Süd with Hessen Kassel . Viktoria Aschaffenburg, Eintracht Trier, Sonnenhof Großaspach, Wormatia Worms and Waldhof Mannheim were other stops in his career. In July 2013 he moved to SV Meppen in the Regionalliga Nord . With this he rose to the third division at the end of the 2016/17 season . In the home game against the Würzburger Kickers he made his first appearance in the third division, and he also scored his first goal in professional football.

In February 2019, the Meppen team captain announced that he would be leaving the club in the summer after six years and switching to Hannover 96 II , where he signed a two-year contract. The midfielder had played in over 200 competitive games for the Emsländer and scored 32 goals.
