Martin Wex (born December 26, 1968 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and managing director. From 2013 to 2018 he was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament . He has been a member of parliament again since 2019.

education and profession

Wex attended the Hans Sachs primary school in Schwaz between 1975 and 1979 and then switched to the Paulinum Episcopal High School in Schwaz. After taking his Matura here in 1987 , he began studying business administration at the University of Innsbruck in 1987 . In 1994 he completed his studies with the academic degree Mag . In addition, Wex completed the university course for export traders in 1991 and a short course in New Orleans in 1993 . In 1994 he was a co-founder of Infowerk GmbH and worked there as a partner until 2003. He also founded Radio Unterland U1 GmbH in 1997 and was a partner there until 2001. In 1999 Wex founded the company Wexmedia, whereby Wexmedia emerged from the company Infowerk. Wexmedia deals with management consulting with a focus on consulting, conception and project support for processes and concepts in the field of new media. Furthermore, Wex is active in the field of training and lecturing activities for the IMT of the FH Kufstein , business development institute , adult education center and others.

Politics and functions

Wex was elected to the Schwaz municipal council for the first time in 1998 and was cultural advisor in Schwaz from 1998 to 2004. He then worked as a financial advisor until 2010. In 2010 he took over the office of the vice mayor and the function of economic advisor. In addition, he has been chairman of the economic association in Schwaz since 2008. He is chairman of the economic committee and a member of the finance, environment and waste management committees. In addition, he is the club chairman of the ÖVP Schwaz. Wex ran in the state elections in 2013 in second place on the ÖVP list in the state constituency of Schwaz and was able to move into the state parliament after the top candidate in the constituency Josef Geisler rose to the state government. He was sworn in on May 24, 2013 and, as area spokesman, took over the agendas of technology, IT, science and innovation in the ÖVP state parliament club.

After the state elections in 2018 , he left the state parliament. At the beginning of September 2019 it was announced that he would take over the mandate from Kathrin Kaltenhauser .
