Martin Wiese (sculptor)

Martin Wiese (* 1958 ) is a German sculptor and master stonemason .

Life

Martin Wiese completed his architecture studies in Essen and completed an apprenticeship as a stonemason in the Münsterland . He then worked in the cathedral construction works in Xanten . This was followed by master training as a stone sculptor in Freiburg im Breisgau . Wiese has been working freelance in Oberried / St. Wilhelm in the Black Forest, since 2001 with a new workshop on the Maierhof.

Works and projects

  • Reconstructions at the Temple of Traian in Pergamon , Turkey for the German Archaeological Institute (DAI).
  • Stone carving work on the reconstruction of the Apollon Temple in Side , Turkey, for the American foundation "Friends of Side".
  • Head of the reconstruction of the Temple of Zeus in Priene , Turkey, for the DAI.
  • Reconstruction work on the former Prussian Consulate General in Istanbul .
  • Sculptural restoration of the large reliefs on the main portal of the Reichstag in Berlin as well as restoration of several mausoleums in the historic cemeteries of Berlin.
  • Repair of the entire facade of a building designed by Bauhaus architect Bruno Taut in Berlin-Friedenau.
  • Management of the reconstruction of a monumental Bodhisattva statue in the southeast of Sri Lanka for the Department of Archeology on behalf of the Rathgen research laboratory in Berlin.
  • Creation of a group of figures in sandstone for the gable crown of the palace of Christian IX, Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen .
