Marty Zeller
Martin "Marty" Zeller (born June 27, 1957 in McHenry (Illinois) ) is an American basketball coach and former player.
Life
As a young adult, Zeller was part of the basketball team at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell , New Mexico , for two years . From 1977 to 1979, the 1.98-meter indoor player was a member of the Baylor University team while studying physical education . He played 48 games for Baylor, his better of the two seasons was 1978/79, when he posted an average of 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per use.
Zeller was under contract with the Finnish first division team Tapiolan Honka in the 1986/87 season , where he achieved an average of 11.6 points per match. He also worked as a coach in Finland . In the 1987/88 season Zeller trained the Norwegian team Ammerud Basket in Oslo . He went to Germany , where he was employed by Bundesliga club Goldstar Hagen during the 1988/89 season . He was active in youth work and, as a coach, was also in charge of the Hagen Bundesliga team at times this season.
During his time as coach of the Australian team Southwest Slammers in Bunbury , he met his future wife from Zimbabwe . Zeller worked as a trainer in Cyprus , then from 1994 to 1998 at the Al Ahli club in Dubai ( United Arab Emirates ). In the 1998/99 season Zeller coached the Al Rivadi team in the Lebanese capital Beirut before returning to the United States with his family. There Zeller initially worked as a baseball trainer at the New Mexico Military Institute, then from 2006 as a physical education teacher and basketball coach at the Grants High School in New Mexico. In 2012 he moved to a school in Los Lunas in the same capacity within the state .
Zeller has four children with his wife. Daughter Teige played basketball at the University of Nevada , son Zanen joined the basketball team at Biola University and son Weston at Texas A&M University Commerce .
