Maruoka ( Japanese 丸 岡 町 , - chō , literally: round hill ) was a city in Sakai-gun in the Japanese prefecture of Fukui .
history
The city was incorporated into Sakai on March 20, 2006 .
Attractions
Maruoka Castle is located in Maruoka, which was built in 1576 . Although only the main tower remains, it is the oldest surviving castle in Japan.
