Sakai ( Japanese 坂 井 市 , -shi ) is a city in Fukui Prefecture in Japan .
history
The city went on March 20, 2006 from the merger of the municipalities Harue ( 春江 町 , -chō ), Maruoka ( 丸 岡 町 , -chō ), Mikuni ( 三国 町 , -chō ), Sakai ( 坂 井 町 , -chō ) of the district Sakai ( 坂 井 郡 , -gun ).
