Wakasa ( Jap. 若狭町 , - chō ) is a small town in the county Mikata-Kaminaka of Fukui Prefecture in Japan .

Wakasa is located south of Fukui and north of Kyoto on Wakasa Bay .

history

The community emerged on March 31, 2005 from the amalgamation of the communities Mikata ( 三方 町 , -chō ) and Kaminaka ( 上 中 町 , -chō ) of the district of Mikata .
