Echizen ( Japanese 越 前 町 , - chō ) is a city in Nyū-gun in Fukui Prefecture in Japan .
Echizen is known for its ceramics. Along with Shigaraki , Bizen , Seto , Tamba (today: Konda , Sasayama ) and Tokoname , it is one of the so-called Six Old Kiln Sites in Japan ( 日本 六 古窯 , Nihon rokkoyō ). Therefore, this ceramic is highly revered by Japanese and international ceramic connoisseurs.
