history
The city of Bizen was founded on April 1, 1971.
Attractions
There are two Buddhist temples in the city : the Fukushō-ji ( 福 生 寺 ) and the Shinkō-ji ( 真 光寺 ).
Waidani Azuchiyama Ikeda-ke basho ( 和 意 谷 敦 土 山 池田 家 墓 所 ) are tombs of the Ikeda clan, who also supported the potters who settled in the city during the Edo period . The Fujiwara Kei Museum opened in 1976 in memory of one of the most famous potters, who was named a Living National Treasure.

The Sanyo Highway is located near the city . The National Highway 2 leading to Osaka and Kitakyushu . Other national roads are the 250, 374 and 484.
Train connections exist with the JR West San'yō Main Line to Kobe and Kitakyushu and with the JR Akō Line to Aioi and Okayama . A San'yō Shinkansen station is located in Okayama.
