Maniwa ( Japanese 真 庭 市 , -shi ) is a city in the Japanese prefecture of Okayama .

history

The city of Maniwa was formed on March 31, 2005 from the union of the communities Katsuyama ( 勝 山 町 , -chō ), Kuse ( 久 世 町 , -chō ), Ochiai ( 落 合 町 , -chō ) and Yubara ( 湯原 町 , -chō ), the villages of Chūka ( 中 和村 , -son ), Mikamo ( 美 甘 村 , -son ), Kawakami ( 川 上 村 , -son ) and Yatsuka ( 八 束 村 , -son ) of Maniwa County , as well as the municipality of Hokubō ( 北房 町 , -chō ) of the Jōbō district . The district of Jōbō was then dissolved.
