Mary Ellen Clark (born December 25, 1962 in Abington ) is a former American water diver . She started in artificial jumping from the 1-meter and 3-meter board and in 10-meter tower diving. In 1992 and 1996 she won bronze medals in diving at two consecutive Olympic Games .

Clark got into her sport early on because her mother was a diving instructor. However, her first successes came late when she trained in the respective college teams while studying at Pennsylvania State University and later at Ohio State University . She achieved a total of six medals at college championships. Her first international championship was the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis . Until then, Clark jumped mostly in artificial jumping, but she now concentrated more on diving. Her breakthrough finally came with qualifying for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . From the 10-meter tower she was able to win the bronze medal there. Clark only took part in a world championship once, she started in Rome in 1994 from the 10-meter tower and reached seventh place. After a long injury break and the unsuccessful Pan American Games in 1995 in Mar del Plata , Clark played her last international competition at the Olympic Games in Atlanta . She was able to convince again and again won the bronze medal from the 10 m tower.

Clark won a total of seven national championship titles. Since 2004 she has been working as a trainer at Amherst College , where she has already led several jumpers to the national top.
