Mary Jane is a German alternative rock band that was founded in 1997 in Munich .
history
Mary Jane was founded in 1997 by Thomas Reichel, Daniel Filipski, Moritz and Christian. Christian Bartl, former guitarist of the band, became aware of the term Mary Jane through a biology book. Since they were founded, they have only played their own material. Their music is a mixture of pop , rock and punk . The band's first concerts took place in 1997. In 2002 the first album The Art of Fart was recorded in Munich . Four years later, the album Road Signs & Rock Shows was also recorded in Munich with producer Alexander Preu. Two years later the album was released in Japan on the Garimpeiro Records label. Mary Jane was on tour with the band Itchy Poopzkid in 2007 and played in the opening act for bands like Iggy Pop , Wir sind Helden , Donots , the H-Blockx , Olli Schulz , Dúné , KIZ or Coheed and Cambria . They played at several festivals and in 2003 they took part in the Emergenza .
