Mary Wayte

Mary Wayte (born March 25, 1965 in Mercer Island ) is a former American swimmer .

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , she was Olympic champion in the 200 m freestyle . Four years later she was able to win the silver medal with the 4 × 100 m individual relay relay and the bronze medal with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay in Seoul . In 2000 she was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .

After her career she became a sports commentator for NBC and ESPN and reported, among other things, from the swimming competitions at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta .
