Debbie Meyer
Deborah "Debbie" Elizabeth Meyer (born August 14, 1952 in Annapolis , Maryland ) is a former American swimmer .
At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , she became the first woman to become Olympic champion over three individual distances at the same Olympic Games. She won gold in the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle , each with an Olympic record. In 1969 she was honored with the Associated Press' Athlete of the Year award .
In 1972 she ended her career and opened a swimming school. In her career she set 20 world records . In 1977 she was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
